PHILADELPHIA - The men's cross country team enters its final tune-up before Heptagonals when they hit the road for Lafayette and the Leopard Invitational on Saturday morning in Easton, Pa. Saturday's competition from the Metzgar Fields Athletic Complex will get started at 10 a.m.

Ranked No. 12 in the Mid-Atlantic Region, the Quakers will face a field that includes 12 other schools, including American (No.11 in the Mid-Atlantic) and Temple (No. 13 in the Mid-Atlantic). Other competitors include Pitt, Seton Hall, as well as a number of Division II and III opponents.

The Red and Blue come into the Leopard Invitational on a roll after winning the Brown Race of the Paul Short Invitational two weeks ago in nearby Bethlehem, Pa. Penn accumulated only 47 points in that race, with top finisher Brendan Smith (third place overall) and fifth finisher George Dickson (17th overall) only separated by 30 seconds in the 8K.

After a break next weekend, the Quakers enter the most important stretch of their season, toeing the line with the rest of the Ivy League at the Heptagonal Championships on Oct. 27 from Princeton's West Windsor Fields.
