PHILADELPHIA -
The men's swimming team split against a pair of Ivy League opponents on Saturday afternoon at Sheerr Pool. The Quakers downed the Cornell Big Red by a score of 207-93, but were defeated by Princeton, 168-130. Freshmen Chris Swanson was one of the day's biggest bright spots for the Red and Blue, notching a pair of victories in the 500 and 1000 Freestyle.

The day started off well as Penn's 200 Medley Relay 'A' team of Rhoads Worster, Kyle Yu, Alex Porter and Brett Gomes finished second out of 10 groups with a time of 1:33.16. That was followed shortly thereafter by Swanson's first win of the day in the 1000 Free. The Penn newcomer edged out Princeton's Zachary Ridout, closing with a time of 9:25.48 to grab the win by slightly more than three-tenths of a second. Fellow freshman Bradley Wachenfeld came in third (9:31.52).

That same pair would team up again later in the day, finishing 1-2 in the 500 Free. Swanson once again nabbed the win, touching the wall in 4:36.47 to Wachenfeld's 4:36.80.

Penn's other winner on the day was Worster in the 100 Butterfly. The junior clocked a 49.80 to beat the runner-up by over a second. He also provided the Quakers with a second place finish in the 100 Backstroke (49.99).

Penn takes a break from dual meets as they next travel to Ohio for the Total Performance Invitational from Nov. 29-Dec. 1. The Red and Blue have won the Kenyon College-hosted event for the past two seasons.
