GAMBIER, Ohio -
The men's swimming team held off a charge from Kenyon and took home the Total Performance Invitational title for the third consecutive season on Saturday night from the Kenyon Aquatic Center. The Quakers accumulated 1455.5 points over the three days of the event while Kenyon finished with 1396. Carnegie Mellon finished third out of the six schools in the competition with 523 points.

Holding a 96-point lead entering the night, Penn used three event wins early on in the night to clinch victory at the invite. It started out with a dominant performance from the 200 Medley Relay team of Eric Schultz, Kyle Yu, Rhoads Worster and John Germanis. The Penn 'A' team closed out the night's opening race in 1:30.44 to finish over a full second clear of Kenyon's top finisher. A 1-2 finish from Chris Swanson and Stephen Carroll in the 500 Freestyle further increased the Quaker advantage. Swanson set a meet and pool records with his winning time of 4:27.47, while Carroll was close behind in 4:30.08.

A top-three sweep in the 200 Backstroke from the Red and Blue all but sealed the win. Worster finished first in 1:49.24, with Dillon McHugh not far behind at 1:49.56. Bradley Wachenfeld closed out in third place in 1:50.29.

The rest of the night was about maintaining the advantage that the Quakers had earned. Worster - fresh off his victory in the 200 Back - came in third in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 49.87. Later on, he would add a fifth place finish in the 400 IM (1:53.67).

Other top individuals for Penn on the night included Yu in the 200 Breast (2:02.22) and Germanis in the 100 Freestyle (45.58). The Quaker 'A' team of Germanis, McHugh, Schultz and Worster came in second in the meet's final event, the 400 Freestyle Relay, with a time of 2:59.46.

Penn will now be off until the New Year, when they resume training in advance of a Jan. 12 meeting with Dartmouth and Yale at Sheerr Pool. Proceedings that day will begin at 10 a.m.
