NEW YORK, N.Y. - In a 12-team field on Saturday at the Armory, the University of Pennsylvania women's track and field team finished fourth behind top three finishes from Annie Holland, Elyssa Gensib, Eliana Yankelev, Davielle Brown and Jillian Hart.

Penn finished with 97.5 team points which ranked ahead of a few familiar foes in Army (29) and Columbia (16). Princeton won the meet and Maryland was the runner up.

Brown, Hart and Brooke Hamscher finished second, third and fourth, respectively in the pole vault. Brown nearly set the school record as she cleared 3.80 meters (12 feet 5 1/2 inches). That was just one centimeter shy of the school standard set by current volunteer assistant coach Sam Crook in 2005. Brown also reached that height without a miss. Hart had just one miss prior to clearing the bar at 3.70 meters (12-01.50 ft.) and Hamscher finished at 3.50 meters (11-05.75 ft.).

Holland nearly matched a career-best in the high jump before finishing third at 1.66 meters (5 feet 5 1/4 inches). She had just one miss before clearing that bar and then came up just short at surpassing the bar at 1.70 meters to match her personal best.

Gensib was one of just three competitors to break the 10-minute mark in the 3,000 meters. She crossed the finish line in 9:51.22 which was just a few seconds off the top spot and earned her runner-up status.

In the 60-meter hurdles, Yankelev was third. She had the second-best time in the preliminaries at 9.13 and then finished with the bronze in the finals when she stopped the clock at 9.09.

Both Nony Onyeador and Lydia Ali scored in the 60 meters. The two finished among the top four in the preliminaries with near identical times of 7.75 and 7.76, respectively. In the finals, Ali was fourth at 7.85 and Onyeador finished sixth at 7.89. Ali also finished fourth in the 200 meters at 22.86, which was just in front of Heather Bong's fifth-place showing of 22.89.

Next Saturday, the Quakers head to Penn State for the Sykes Sabock Cup.
