PRINCETON, N.J. –
The Penn men’s squash team (3-7, 0-3 Ivy) dropped its third Ivy League contest
of the season, falling to top-ranked Princeton (7-0, 3-0) in Princeton, N.J. on
Wednesday night, 9-0. The Tigers swept the Quakers in straight-games in each
match. Playing a five-court system, there were only two rotations of matches,
leading to the final result much quicker.
In the first rotation, Derek Chilvers (2-8, 0-3) faced
Samuel Kang at No. 2, winning seven points in each of the last two games, but
dropping the match, 3-0. At the fourth position, Augie Frank (2-8, 0-3) dropped
his first two games quickly, but came back and only lost the final game by two
points. At No. 6, Jack Maine (4-6, 0-3) went head to head with the school
everyone in his immediate family attended aside from him, but was unable to
pull out the match, falling in straight games. Daniel Judd (5-5, 0-3) stepped
up at the eighth position, and put up a good fight in the final game when he
won seven points, but dropped the match, 3-0.
The second rotation began with Penn trailing 4-0. Justin Ang
(1-2, 0-1) played at No. 9 in just his third match of the season – his first
Ivy League match – but fell quickly to Michael LeBlanc of Princeton. At No. 7, Tyler
Odell (6-4, 1-2) once again had the most competitive match of the night for the
Quakers, losing the first game, 12-10, and the second and third as well.
Another rookie, Liam Quinn (4-6, 0-3), played at the fifth position and fell in
straight games. Danny Greenberg (3-6, 0-3)faced off against Todd Harrity at No.
1, and the two have had a long history against one another dating back to
juniors. Greenberg was competitive in the first game, losing 11-5, but lost the
last two games quickly in what is most likely the last meeting between the two.
In the final match of the night, John Dudzik (2-8, 0-3) met Tyler Osborne at
the third position. Dudzik fell in straight games, sealing the 9-0 sweep for
The Quakers will be back in action for an Ivy League road
trip this weekend when they travel to Providence, R.I. on Feb. 2 to face Brown
at 1 p.m. They follow that up with a trip to New Haven, Conn. for a match against
Yale on Feb. 3 at noon.
