PROVIDENCE, R.I. - No. 12 Penn (4-7, 1-3 Ivy) earned its first Ivy League win on Saturday over No. 18 Brown (6-6, 0-3) in Providence, R.I., winning 6-3. The Bears now remain the only Ivy team without a conference win.

Action got underway at 1 p.m. with John Dudzik (3-8, 1-3) and Jack Maine (5-6, 1-3) leading off the first rotation with wins for Penn, giving their team a 2-1 lead. Dudzik earned his first Ivy win at No. 3 in straight games. Maine also won his first Ivy match, taking the sixth position in four games. Justin Ang (1-3, 0-2) fell at the No. 9 spot in five games to close out the rotation.

Penn swept the next round, winning all three individual matches in straight games, giving it five overall victories at the time, as well as the match. Derek Chilvers (3-8, 1-3) at No. 2, Liam Quinn (5-6, 1-3) at five and Daniel Judd (6-5, 1-3) at the eighth spot all earned their first Ivy victories of the season.

Brown won the final rotation 2-1, but the Red and Blue had already won five games at the end of the second rotation, as well as the match. Tyler Odell (7-4, 2-2) became the only Quaker to have multiple Ivy wins after taking the No. 7 match in four games. Augie Frank (2-9, 0-4) and senior captain Danny Greenberg (3-7, 0-4) fell at No. 4 and No. 1, respectively.

Penn will look to take the momentum from the Saturday’s win into Sunday’s match against fourth-ranked Yale (8-2, 2-1) in New Haven, Conn. at noon. The Bulldogs are coming off their first Ivy loss of the season, 6-3 to top-ranked Princeton (8-0, 4-0).
