Men and Women's Combined Results (Days 1&2)

Charlottesville, Va. -
The Penn men's swimming team brought a large lead into the second day of competition at the Cavalier Invitational and didn't let it get away, expanding the margin throughout the night and leaving the University of Virginia with a first place finish against five other schools. The Quakers compiled 469.5 points, more than 130 points higher than second place finisher William & Mary.

The night's lone individual victory came from Nick Johnson, who won the 100 Backstroke by exactly half a second with a time of 50.18 in the finals. In the prelims he had clocked a time of 49.54, a new school record in the event. The competition's final event was the 400 Freestyle Relay, and the Quaker 'A' team of Kevin Intrieri, Sam Ruddy, Christopher Fleming and Logan Ware put together a winning time of 3:06.88, edging out the Virginia 'A' team by .14.

Elsewhere, Kevin Intrieri notched a second place finish in the 50 Freestyle, touching the wall in 20.99. Penn also received third place finishes from Ryan Carey in the 400 IM (4:04.70), Chris Fleming in the 200 Freestyle (1:41.38) and Paul Maneri in the 100 Butterfly (51.16).

As this group is Penn's non-Ivy League Championships squad, they wrap up their season with an impressive victory. The members of the Red and Blue taking part in this season's Championships will be at Brown from March 7-9 at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center to compete against the rest of the Ancient Eight.
