PHILADELPHIA - Just two days earlier, the Penn women's basketball program earned its first-ever postseason victory. But with 7.9 seconds remaining and trailing by two in the quarterfinals of the Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI), one of the best seasons in school history was about to come to an end. But what happened nextmakes this game worthy of the top five best moments in Penn Athletics this year.

Junior captain Alyssa Baron took the inbounds, dribbled to the three-point arc, stepped back and buried a SportsCenter-worthy, game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer to cap a wild final minute and send the Quakers to the WBI semifinals.

Just moments earlier Penn led Fairfield, 46-43 with 29 seconds remaining at The Palestra. But the Stags (18-14) made a layup to close to within one and then Penn missed the front end of a one-and-one. Fairfield grabbed the rebound and quickly buried a go-ahead three with 7.9 seconds to go. But that's when Baron became the hero and extended Penn's season.

A few days later, another Penn buzzer-beater fell short and the Quakers lost on the road to eventual WBI champion, Detroit, 71-68. However, the win over Fairfield had marked Penn's 18th of the season - tied for second-most in program history. It was also the team's ninth non-league win which matched the school record set in 1999-00. Penn's 18-13 overall record marked the first winning season since 2004-05 and the team's best record since the 2000-01 team set the school standard with 22 wins.
