PRINCETON - University of Pennsylvania women’s basketball sophomore Princess Aghayere (Reston, Va.) has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 13. The sophomore helped lead the Quakers to a 2-0 weekend while the squad improved to 14-6 overall and 7-0 in Ivy League action as Penn remains the only undefeated team left in the Ancient Eight.
The laurels mark the first conference honors for Aghayere who’s had a breakout season in her sophomore campaign. In a 64-54 win at Columbia, Aghayere had a career night when she posted six rebounds and a career-best 21 points in just 21 minutes, including shooing 9-for-11 from the field to hit 81.8% of her shots for the night. She followed that performance in a 61-55 win at Cornell (6-of-8, 75%) where she tallied 12 points and four rebounds in just 18 minutes, including one assist and one steal.
The Quakers are currently two games ahead of Harvard in the league standings and are the only undefeated team remaining in the conference at 7-0. The Red and Blue return to action this weekend with another road trip, traveling to Brown on Friday and Yale on Saturday
