PHILADELPHIA – University of Pennsylvania women’s squash sophomore Anaka Alankamony was recently named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Women’s At-Large Academic All-Area Team.
An Economics major in the College of Arts and Sciences, Alankamony was recognized for her academic performance with a GPA of 3.20 or higher.
The Chennai, India native played in the No. 1 and 2 positions this year for Penn, and ended the season with a 15-5 individual record, including a 5-2 Ivy League mark. She earned College Squash Association (CSA) First-team All-America, and First-team All-Ivy.
She helped lead the Quakers to an undefeated 7-0 Ivy League record, winning the program’s third championship. The Penn women’s team finished with a 14-3 overall team record, and finished fourth in the country after the CSA Howe Cup.
