PHILADELPHIA – Helping lead the University of Pennsylvania women’s squash team to an undefeated 7-0 Ivy League record, winning the program’s third championship, three Quaker players were named to the All-Ivy team, Anaka Alankamony, Marie Stephan, and Yan Xin Tan.
For the second consecutive season sophomore Anaka Alankamony was selected to the All-Ivy team for Penn. Playing in the No. 1 and 2 positions this year, Alankamony was a unanimous selection, and ended the year with a 15-5 individual record, including a 5-2 Ivy League mark.
In her first season for the Quakers, freshman Marie Stephan finished 16-1 overall, including an undefeated regular season run of 14-0, and 6-0 in the Ivy League. Stephan played a key role in setting the table in matches for Penn, playing in the No. 3 or 4 positions.
Junior Yan Xin Tan was named to her third All-Ivy team as a unanimous selection in 2015. Playing in the No. 1 or 2 positions throughout the year, Tan finished the season with a 14-6 overall record, and a 6-1 Ivy League record.
The Penn women’s team finished with a 14-3 overall team record, and finished fourth in the country after the College Squash Association Howe Cup.
