All Three Relays Advance for Men's Track and Field at IC4A's

BOSTON, Mass. - All three relay teams for the University of Pennsylvania men's indoor track and field team advanced to the finals at the IC4A Championships Saturday at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center. All three will compete Sunday for the IC4A indoor title.

The distance medley relay team of junior Robert Dugger, senior Jeremy Sinclair, freshman Matt Chylak and sophomore Michael Cunningham qualified with a time of 9:55.64. It was the first time this season that the Quakers ran under the 10-minute mark. The team finished fourth in the preliminaries and will compete for the IC4A title on Sunday at 2:25 p.m.

The 4x800 relay also qualified with a season-best performance. Junior Darryll Oliver ran the first leg and handed to freshman Trevor Cordivari, who was followed by freshman Aki Bajulaiye and sophomore Brian Fulton. The foursome finished in 7:36.70, placing sixth in the preliminary round. Their Sunday final is set for 2:35 p.m.

The 4x400 relay team, consisting of three freshman - Tim Carey, Patrick Foley and Allante Keels - and senior Ben McKean running the anchor, reached the finals with a time of 3:14.45. It was easily Penn's best time of the year as they placed 10th among the 30 competing teams. They will run again tomorrow in the final event of the meet at 2:45 p.m.

Junior James Foreman nearly scored for the Quakers in the pole vault, placing 10th against 23 competitors. Foreman passed the first bar at 4.80 meters (15 feet, 9 inches) on his second attempt, but couldn't get over the bar at the next level of 4.90 meters.

As Penn's first competitor on the track, Sinclair finished 23rd in the 55-meter hurdles. His time of 7.90 was his best of the season.

In the mile, junior Jeff Weinstein was 22nd in a 35-man field with a time of 4:11.79. While in the 400 meters, freshman Tim Carey crossed the finish line in 49.29 to place 34th.
