PRINCETON, N.J. – The Ivy League has announced its weekly softball honors on Tuesday and among the group is University of Pennsylvania softball freshman Leah Allen, who earned this week’s Rookie of the Week for her performance this weekend against Harvard and Dartmouth. This is Allen’s second Rookie of the Week honor this season. (She was named Co-Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week after the team’s return from Spring Break.)
The freshman outfielder went 6-for-12 at the plate this week, which included two solo home runs in the 8-3 loss to Harvard. Allen is tied for the League lead in home runs with six and now has a League-best slugging percentage for the season (.696), after slugging 1.000 last week.
Allen and the rest of the Quakers will be back in action on Wednesday for a midweek Ivy showdown with Brown. First pitch is set for 1:30 p.m. at Penn Park.
