Allen Hoping Quakers "Play With Sense of Urgency" This Weekend

For its final Ivy League road weekend of the 2009-2010 campaign, the Penn men's basketball program makes its annual Empire State swing, stopping at Columbia on Friday, and Cornell on Saturday. The Quakers' aim on this trek is to build on the momentum generated by its fourth Ancient Eight victory, an 81-69 triumph over Yale last Saturday. That night, the Red and Blue registered their highest point total in a conference contest in nearly two years.

In the latest installment of the "Independence Blue Cross Jerome Allen Show," the interim John R. Rockwell Head Coach of Men's Basketball at Penn discusses two compelling storylines confronting his club in its next two outings. First, against the Lions, the Quakers will strive to avenge a deflating setback that followed the boost of a February 12th triumph over the Big Red, at that point the 22nd-ranked team in the nation. Then, versus Cornell this Saturday, Penn has the chance to post an unlikely sweep of the two-time defending Ivy League champions.
