Allen Named Ivy Co-Player and Rookie of the Week

Ivy Softball Week 5 Honors Release

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Ivy League announced its weekly softball honors on Tuesday and earning Co-Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week is freshman Leah Allen, for her performance during last week’s games in the USF Under Armour Showcase in Florida. Allen shares the Player of the Week honor with Dartmouth’s Kelsey Miller.

Trailing 7-3 against Providence in the bottom of the fifth with two outs and bases loaded, Allen hit her first collegiate grand slam past left field and tied the game at seven. The Quakers went on to win, 8-7. It was her second home run in two days, with her first being a solo home run against Seton Hall. She would hit a second solo shot the following day against Butler.

In addition to her three home runs, Allen drove in 10 runs last week and went 8-for-20 with a .950 slugging pct.

Allen currently leads the League in RBIs with 16. She is tied with Darmouth’s Karen Chaw for most home runs (3) and has the second best slugging pct. in the League (.692).
