PHILADELPHIA - The Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook has announced its 2009 Preseason All-America Teams, and a pair of Penn players -- senior attack Craig Andrzejewski and junior face-off man Justin Lynch -- received honorable mention recognition from the publication.
Andrzejewski led Penn in goals (23) and points (40) a year ago, after leading the Quakers in all three categories two years ago as a sophomore. A first-team All-Ivy pick in 2008 and honorable mention All-America in 2007, he enters the 2009 season with 106 career points. He needs 11 to crack Penn’s all-time Top 10 list in career points.
Lynch has established himself as one of the top face-off men in the nation. Last year, he had a .577 win percentage on the X, and swept up a team-leading 58 ground balls.
Under seventh-year head coach Brian Voelker, Penn returns 23 letterwinners and 12 starters to a team that finished 6-7 last year including 3-3 in the Ivy League. The Quakers open their 13-game season February 21 at Drexel.
