PHILADELPHIA - Penn sophomore attackman Craig Andrzejewski was named the Ivy League Player of the Week in men’s lacrosse. The announcement came Tuesday morning from the conference office.
This is the second time Andrzejewski has received a weekly honor from the Ivy office, and the first time this season. He was Co-Ivy Rookie of the Week at the beginning of the 2006 season.
The sophomore attacker was honored after putting together a spectacular outing in Penn’s 13-12 win against Lehigh last Wednesday. Andrzejewski came up with four goals and five assists for nine points to lead all scorers. All four of his goals in that game came in the first half, and he later assisted on Penn’s final two goals as the Quakers came up with the one-goal victory.
On Saturday, Andrzejewski scored a team-leading three goals as the Quakers routed Robert Morris, 13-5. All of his goals in that game came in the first half, when Penn built up a 9-0 lead en route to the easy victory.
For the week, Andrzejewski scored seven goals and dished off five assists for 12 points.
