Philadelphia Freshman Annie Kinsey was named Ivy League Softball Rookie of the Week for the week ending March 20 after an outstanding performance for the Quakers.
The West Hills, Calif. native hit .455 with 11 total bases, three runs batted in and a run scored in seven games for the Red and Blue last week. In Penn’s 9-4 victory over Lafayette at the Mizuno/Anderson Bat Bash at the Beach on March 18, Kinsey went 4-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. That same day, she went 2-for-3 with an RBI in Penn’s 4-1 win over Saint Joseph’s.
Overall, Kinsey, who has started all 16 games at second base, is second on the team in hitting (.412) and has a team-high 21 hits, including a team-high four doubles, and is second in RBI with nine. Kinsey has not struck out in 51 at-bats this season. She has four multi-hit games to her credit, including a 4-for-4 performance with four runs batted in against Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne on March 11.
The Quakers (6-10) are back on the field on March 24 as they travel to Lafayette. Penn returns home on March 26 to host Rider at 1p.m.
