PHILADELPHIA Penn junior Kyle Armeny was named Big 5 Baseball Player of the Week on Wednesday. Armeny batted .600 with three home runs and nine RBI last week.
Armeny went 12-for-20, with a 1.200 slugging percentage, as six of his 12 hits went for extra bases. He opened the week by hitting a home run in three consecutive games to boost his team lead to eight. His performance helped Penn inch closer to the Ivy League Gehrig Division title. The junior is batting .326 with 13 doubles and 32 RBI for the Quakers.
He is the third Penn player this season to be named Big 5 Player of the Week. Armeny joins Jarron Smith (4/2), Josh Corn (3/19) and Tim May (3/12).
