PHILADELPHIA - The Quakers had a pair of runners named All-Region following their performances at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Saturday at Penn State.
Senior Christopher Baird received All-Region honors for the second straight year after placing 20th overall in the men's race. Running a 10k for the first time all year, he finished the course in 30:59 in leading Penn to a sixth place finish in the event, the finish for the Quakers in three years.
On the women's side, sophomore Leslie Kovach earned her first career All-Region honors by running though the field to a 22nd place finish. Kovach ran the course in 21:11, becoming the first runner since Stacy Kim in 2007 to receive All-Region honors. She also helped her team to an eighth place finish, the team's best since 2007.
Baird and Kovach were one of 24 Ivy League runners to earn All-Region distinction and Penn was just one of five Ancient Eight schools to have both a male and female runner honored as such.
