Barth Named Ivy League, ECAC Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA -The Ivy League and ECAC have announcedtheir weekly award winners in women's soccer for Oct. 17, and Penn sophomore forward Kathryn Barth has been named the Player of the Week by both organizations.

This marks the second time a Penn player has received the Ivy League award this season; senior Marin McDermott was Player of the Week on Sept. 5. Barth is the first Penn player honored by the ECAC this season.

Barth's honorsare well-deserved. She began the week by tallying a goal and three assists in just one half of play, helping the Quakers roll to an 8-0 win over NJIT. The three assists tied a school record. She followed that up by scoring both goals in Penn's 2-0, Ivy League win over Dartmouth on Saturday. Barth leads the Red and Blue in assists (5) and points (17), and is second on the team with six goals.

At 11-2-0 this season, Penn is off to the best start in program history (since 1991). The Quakers have tied a program record with six wins in a row, and will look to keep the good times rolling on Saturday when they host Yale in an important Ivy League match at 5 p.m. Both Penn and Yale are 3-1-0 in the league, tied for second behind Harvard (3-0-1).
