Top First: Grandieri to lead things off, we'll see if the Quakers can match their start from a night ago. The senior takes the 1-2 pitch up the middle for a single. Williams hits a grounder to the third baseman and tries to turn two but a drop by the second baseman allows both runners to be safe and Grandieri once again showing his skill on the basepaths takes third. Gordon takes a five pitch walk to load the bases in the first inning for the second consecutive night. Still no outs. Penn 3-0 Branigan hits a ball which almost hits first base and goes down the line, clearing all three runners off the bases and putting himself on second. Mariano making his first appearence of the season grounds out to the third baseman. Davis earns a walk, already his third on the season. Penn 5-0 Vigoa cranks a double into left field as both Branigan and Davis come around to score. The Penn offense is giving Roth plenty of cushion before he even has to take the mound. Still only one out in the inning. Lorenzo grounds to the shortstop for out number two, moving Vigoa to third. Mraz grounds out to end the inning, as Penn goes through the order in the first inning for the second straight night.

Bottom First: Roth gives up a walk to start it off, but gets the second runner to ground out. Penn 5-1 No. 3 hitter Martin hits a shot into right center for a run scoring double. Gordon, seeing his first ground ball at second, takes a few steps to his right to get the grounder and fire it over to Branigan at first. Roth goes a litle too far in on Leisenheimer and hits him to put runners on the corners. Ground ball goes over Roth's head, but Vigoa collects it and touches second for the third out.

Top Second: Grandieri showing his speed on the bases, earning a triple off a base hit to the wall in right center. Penn 6-1 Williams grounds out to the third baseman, but Gordon brings home Grandieri on a base hit between third and short. Branigan pops it up to the third baseman Kyle Stilphen, who has seen a lot of action at the corner today. On Mariano's second at-bat he draws a full count before grounding out to the shortstop.

Bottom Second: Roth hits his second batter of the game to second off the inning. Penn 6-3 Lewis makes the Quakers pay, hitting a double to deep center and moving over on the throw to home. The throw was just late, and Davis couldn't handle it, as Lewis came around from third to score. Lorenzo catches one in center for out number two and Maine's no. 2 hitter slaps a grounder to Branigan for out number three.

Top Third: Davis leads off the third with a double to right, which the fielder traps while trying to make the grab. The Maine head coach is now on the field in the face of the home plate umpire as someone from their dugout just got ejected. Not quite sure what he was saying beforehand but it appears the head coach is heading off the field a bit early tonight. Lorenzo earns the walk on four pitches as Davis trots over to second. Mraz flies out to center and Vigoa moves over to third. Grandieri goes down 0-2, but fouls off four pitches before striking out to end the inning.

Bottom Third: Martin leads off the third with his second double of the game. Martin also had the Black Bears game-winning hit in their 11 inning win over Rhode Island last night. Ball drops into no man's land in short right center putting runners on the corners with no outs. Penn 6-4 A liner past the outstretched glove of Williams allows Martin to score, narrowing the Quaker lead. Roth has a conference on the mound with his catcher and coach to get a hold of the situation. Stilphen shows bunt, but goes down 0-2 before Roth induces the lazy fly to center. Penn 6-5 A hard single up the middle scores the runner from second and makes it a one run game with only one out. Tied 6-6 Another hard single up the middle to even it up, as action is going on in the bullpen. Roth's night ends, as Mike Zuppe comes in for his second action in as many days. Zuppe gets the first batter he faces to strike out swinging, two down. Zuppe battles back from down 3-0 to make it full, but walks Fransoso to load the bases. Maine 8-6 A two-run single through the right side puts Penn in its first deficit of the season. Grandieir makes the catch on the warning track to end the inning.

Top Fourth: The Quakers look to get the bats going with Williams up to start the inning. Williams gets hit for the third time this year to get on first. Jebb looks a little rusty with the long rest as he walks Gordon on five pitches. Fransoso catches the bouncing grounder, tags Gordon running and then fires on to first for the double play. Williams to third on the play. Jebb stabs the ball coming at his feet and makes the throw to first to end the top half.

Bottom Fourth: Fly to Gordon at second makes it one down, and marks the first inning Penn didn't allow Maine's leadoff runner to reach base. Single through the right side. Next batter hit a ball to deep center but Lorenzo gets back to make the catch near the warning track. Zuppe walks Patzalek on a full count and head coach John Cole comes out to relieve Zuppe. Mc Nulty in to pitch. Maine 11-6 Lewis blasts the first pitch he sees over the centerfield wall for a three-run homer, extending the lead. Grandieri makes the final out of the inning on a fly ball.

Top Fifth: An hour and a half in, Davis steps to the plate. Penn looking for some offense to get back into this game. On cue, Davis earns the free pass. Last year Penn's offense put up double-digit runs in multiple games. Vigoa hit by a pitch as that ends Jebb's night. Justin Latta in to pitch. He's 2-0 with a 2.19 ERA in 12 innings of work this year. Lorenzo to the plate. Lorenzo grounds into the 4-6-3 double play as Davis moves to third. Nice clean fielding by coach Yurkow on a foul ball down the third base line as Mraz goes to a 2-2 count. Maine 11-7 Mraz lines a double to left center, scoring Davis. Ripped to right field, but straight at the rightfielder, ending the inning.

Bottom Fifth: McNulty earns his first strikeout of the game for one out. Another swinging strikeout by McNulty as he seems to have settled down in this half inning. The Penn defense playing straight up with Martin up and he grounds to Branigan, who tosses it to McNulty for the third out.

Top Sixth: Williams swinging late on the third strike from Latta. His sidearm delivery seemd to both the junior on that final pitch. Called strike three on Gordon as that puts two down with Branigan looking for some more success tonight. Branigan holds off on the high pitch to take a walk. Just one hit off of Latta through five batters. Mariano fights off the 1-2 hole for the walk as Will Davis strides to the plate. Maine 11-8 Davis drives a 1-2 pitch through the right side and with the runners going on contact Branigan scores from second. Chopping hit fielded by the second basemen, but Vigoa dives headfirst into the bag, earning the safe call and loading the bases for Lorenzo. Lorenzo strikes out looking after swinging late on the first two strikes, ending the threat.

Bottom Sixth: Mraz controls the fly for the first out. McNulty ends his night on a positive note as senior Robbie Seymour takes the mound for the first time this year. Grounder to third which Williams throws on to first for the second out. Seymour induces a lazy fly to right for the final out.

Top Seventh: Mraz swings at the first pitch he sees, flying out to shallow center. Grandieri's hit snagged by the diving second baseman and he gets up and makes the throw to first for the out. Williams hit for the second time this game, takes first. Gordon grounds to third, ending the inning.

Bottom Seventh: Leadoff single for Patzalek. Soft line drive past the outstretched glove of Vigoa putting two on with no out. We're over the 2.5 hour mark with three innings left to play as neither team seems ready to go down quietly. Passed ball on Davis as the runners advance into scoring position. Maine 12-8 Single to left scores the runner from third as runners now sit on the corners with no outs. Seymour walks Fransoso as Cole comes in to take the ball and end his night. Newcomer to the program Kyle Olson making his first appearence as a Quaker. Olson was the starting quarterback for Penn as they clinched the 2009 Ivy Championship. He's a lefty with a near sidearm delivery. Olson gets his first batter to pop up to center. One down now, bases still loaded. Maine 13-8 With the infield in, Branigan makes a diving stab to his right and then gets up and dives to touch the bag, barely beating the runner from home. All the other runners advance. Maine 15-8 A single by Lugbauer clears the bases, as Olson sees his night come to a close. Patrick Brennan now in for Penn. Maine 17-8 Leisenheimer jacks a shot over the left field fence to make it a six run inning for the Black Bears. Williams collects a pop-up for the final out.

Top Eighth: A soft liner into right by Branigan caught for the first out. For those who were trying to follow live stats, they are currently unavailable and I'll let you know we they're up and running again. Mariano strikes out on three pitches as Matta comes out after doing yeomens work for Maine. Chris Bernard in to pitch. He has one appearance this year. Davis strikes out to end the inning.

Bottom Eighth: Short fly to center corralled by Lorenzo for the first out. Lewis earns his second triple of the game and is no 5-5 on the night out of the eight spot in the order. Maine 18-8 Brennan gets the groudout to third, but Lewis scores. Brennan gets the strikeout to end the inning.

Top Ninth: Matt Tellem in to pinch hit and draws a walk. Emilio Pastor now making his first collegiate appearence, batting for Lorenzo. Both players end up safe on a fielding error by the shortstop. Mraz hits into the 5-4-3 double play putting two down, but Tellem is unable to advance due to an interference. A bobble by the second baseman puts runners on the corners with 2 out. Williams flies out to end the game.
