Baseball's Gable Named Ivy League Player of the Week

PHILADELPHA – For the third week in a row, Penn is represented by a player on the Ivy League’s Award Winners. For the first time this season, though, the honor bestowed on a Penn player is that of Player of the Week.

Steve Gable was chosen as Player of the Week after hitting .478 with nine runs and five RBIs and one HR. The home run was the first of his career. He ended the week with an 18-game hitting streak (which he extended with a single against Villanova on 4/8). His .465 average on the season is tops in the Ivy League. In conference games, he is batting .500 – tied for first in the conference.

Gable is the first Penn player chosen as Ivy League Player of the Week since Joey Boaen in 2006.
