PHILADELPHIA – University of Pennsylvania basketball fans will have a few opportunities to see the Quakers programs in action ahead of the 2016-17 regular season.
The annual Red and Blue Scrimmage, featuring both the men’s and women’s teams, will take place on Saturday, Oct. 22 at The Palestra. The defending Ivy League champion women’s team will play their intrasquad scrimmage that day at noon, followed by the men at 1:30 p.m.
Fans will also have a chance to see the men’s team in intercollegiate action ahead of the season. That’s because the Quakers will host an open exhibition against Keiser University on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 3 p.m. at The Palestra. Located in West Palm Beach, Fla., Keiser competes at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) level and is coached by former Villanova head coach Rollie Massimino. Last year, Keiser went 30-5 overall, won the Sun Conference regular-season title, then advanced to the quarterfinal round of the NAIA National Tournament.
The Keiser exhibition will be a ticketed event; tickets are $10. In addition, fans who attend that day's football game against Brown (1 p.m. kickoff) will be able to use their football ticket to get into the basketball exhibition for free. Penn students also will be given free admission with their PennCard.
