PHILADELPHIA -Senior attacker Tory Bensen had quite the week for the University of Pennsylvania women's lacrosse team, racking up eight points as the Quakers improved to 4-0 in 2015. For her efforts, Bensen was named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week.
Bensen tied her career high with six points on Wednesday as the Quakers steamrolled Rutgers, 17-7. She connected for five goals in the game on eight shots on goal.
On Saturday, Bensen netted a hat trick as Penn opened Ivy League play with a 9-7 win at Brown. She also caused two turnovers and added a ground ball as Penn improved to 54-3 in its last 57 Ivy League games.
For the season, Bensen is second in the country in goal-per-game with her average of 4.0. Her 16 goals are most in the Ivy League and 23rd overall in Division I. She is also 15th in the country in points-per-game with 4.50.
Bensen is the second consecutive Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week for Penn, joining teammate Nina Corcoran. Megan Kelly makes it three Penn weekly honorees in three weeks of conference honors with her Defensive Player of the Week award from Week One.
Penn (4-0, 1-0 Ivy) is back in action on March 10 against Saint Joseph's at Franklin Field. First draw is schedule for 4 p.m.
