PHILADELPHIA - The Ivy League has announced its weekly awards for men's basketball, and Penn freshman Tyler Bernardini has been named the Rookie of the Week for the third-straight time.
Bernardini's honor allows Penn to continue its season-long hold on the rookie award -- in the five weeks it has been given, Bernardini has won it three times, while classmates Jack Eggleston and Harrison Gaines have earned it once each.
Bernardini received the honor after continuing his hot play last week against Elon. In the 67-64 win over the Phoenix, he scored a game-high 23 points, including the Quakers' last nine. Bernadini shot an impressive 8-of-11 from the field, including 2-of-4 from three-point range while adding three rebounds. It marked the third time in the last four games he has surpassed the 20-point mark. Bernadini leads all Ivy freshman in scoring with 13.7 points per game.
