Bonincontri Picks up a Third and Fourth at USAG Championships

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Dana Bonincontri put an exclamation point on an outstanding sophomore season Sunday when she placed in both of the events she qualified for in the USAG Championships. After being named ECAC Athlete of the Year and a NCAA Regional Qualifier, Bonincontri can now add USAG Event place winner to her impressive list of accolades.

On the Uneven Bars, Bonincontri scored a 9.775 on Sunday after scoring a 9.750 in the qualifying session on Friday night. Her score Sunday put her in third place at the end of the day was just .025 points away from the overall champion at the meet,

In her other event, the Floor Exercise, Bonincontri scored a 9.750, which was good enough for fourth place in the event and just .025 away from tying her career high that she had set earlier in the season.

After a long and grueling season, Bonincontri and the rest of her teammates will now to take some time to heal and recuperate from the 2011 season. The future definitely looks bright as 10 of the 11 gymnasts who competed for Penn during the season return for at least one more season.
