PHILADELPHIA – Sophomore pitcher Alexis Borden has dominated opposing batters throughout the 2013 season, and that was highlighted this past week as she was named Ivy League Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday.

Borden started two games this past week, going the distance for the win in both, and is now 5-6 on the season. The Yorba Linda, Calif. native struck out 18 over 14 innings pitched in starts against Lehigh and Holy Cross, and sent down a career-high-tying 12 batters in her start against the Crusaders. Additionally, she now has 268 career strikeouts, tying her for the most in program history.

The stud hurler has allowed just three runs in her last 39 innings pitched and leads the Quakers with a 1.62 ERA. Also, with her five wins this season, she now has 29 for her career, needing just two more to tie her atop the Penn record books for the all-time lead. With four games this weekend, two against Harvard on Friday and two against Dartmouth the following day, Borden will most likely have the opportunity at a couple more victories and ultimately earn her record-tying 31st.

Borden will lead the Red and Blue against the Crimson at Penn Park on Friday in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. for their Ivy League opener. Live stats and live radio will be available all weekend and make sure to follow @UPennSoftball for live in-game updates and conversation for all four contests.
