Borden Named Ivy Softball Pitcher of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Ivy League announced its weekly softball honors on Tuesday, and University of Pennsylvania softball pitcher Alexis Borden was named Pitcher of the Week for her performance in the UCF Spring Fling in Orlando, Fla. Borden appeared in three games, pitching a total of 19 innings and earned a total of 28 strike outs. She had a 1-2 record and an ERA of 2.95.

Over the weekend, Borden returned to doing what she does best for the Red and Blue and started three games.

In the season opener against Troy, Borden tossed 10 innings and struck out 15. Out of the 181 pitches she threw in the 6-4 loss to the Trojans, 108 of them were strikes.

Borden tallied her first win with an 11-1 victory over Colgate. In five of the six innings against the Red Raiders, Borden ended Colgate’s chances with strikeouts – four KS and one KL. The sixth inning ended with a groundout. The Red Raiders saw a total of 10 runners stranded on base -- three in the second and third innings, two in the fourth and fifth.
