EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - The brackets and seedings for the 103rd EIWA Championships, to be held this weekend at East Stroudsburg University, have been released, and eight of Penn's 10 competitors have received seeds.
In addition, it was announced that the EIWA will use its 47 NCAA qualifying slots to send the top four finishers in each weight class plus seven wild cards to the NCAA Championships on March 15-17 in Detroit.
Penn has two top seeds, both of whom are defending champions. Senior Matt Valenti heads the 133-pound bracket after winning the title last year en route to a national championship. Matt Dragon, last year's 149-pound winner as a freshman, is back as the top seed at 157.
Matt Eveleth (125) and Zack Shanaman (165) each earned second seeds, while Matt Herrington (174) and Lior Zamir (184) are fourth seeds. Rick Rappo (149) is seeded fifth and Brett McCurdy (141) is an eighth seed.
