PHILADELPHIA – Sophomore Virginia Burns was named the Ivy League Swimmer of the Week by CollegeSwimming.com on Tuesday. Burns fueled the Quakers to season-opening wins over Columbia and UMBC last weekend.

Burns began the weekend with three triumphs against the Lions, notching wins in the 100, 200 and 500 freestyles. Burns was especially impressive in the 200, touching the wall over two seconds faster than the rest of the field.

She followed that up with three more wins on Saturday, capturing both the 200 (1:51.95) and 500 free (5:00.93) for the second-straight day -- while also being a part of a triumphant relay squad. Burns swam the anchor for a 400-free team composed of Carter Orth, Rochelle Dong and Mary Whiting.

Burns and the rest of the Quakers will be back in action on Saturday, when the Quakers host Villanova at Sheerr Pool.
