Caldwell, Genske Earn Volleyball All-Ivy Honors

PRINCETON, N.J. – On Thursday afternoon, the Ivy League announced its 2014 All-Ivy volleyball teams and selected from the University of Pennsylvania were juniors Alex Caldwell and Alexis Genske. Caldwell was named to the second-team, for a second-straight year, while Genske was named Honorable Mention.

As a setter/rightside hitter, Caldwell recorded five triple-doubles this season and seven double-doubles. She led the team in service aces with 17 and finished second in kills (195), kills per set (2.19), and assists (423). Caldwell also contributed a total of 227 digs, finishing third on the team. Her kills, kills per set, and digs each mark a career high in a single-season. Along with setting those personal bests, Caldwell duplicated her single-match high 20 digs and five blocks, while setting a single-match high five block assists against Brown (10/11). At Brown, she reproduced her single-match high 15 kills (11/14).

Named as one of the three captains this year, Genske led the team with 282 kills and 3.13 kills per set, finishing fourth in the Ivy League in both categories. Both are also career highs in a single-season. Contributing 254 digs, second most on the team, the outside hitter produced nine double-doubles this season, recording four in a row. In the five-set thriller against Harvard in The Palestra (11/8), Genske surpassed her single-match high 20 kills, notching a personal best of 22. It was also the most kills in a match recorded by a Quaker this season.
