PHILADELPHIA -- Penn Wrestling’s annual Keystone Classic tournament will have its first ever presenting sponsor in Canna Milne Financial, a financial advisory firm affiliated with Northwestern Mutual located in King of Prussia, Pa. The founding partners – Brett Canna and William Milne – are graduates of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. While at Penn, Brett was a member of the wrestling team and Will played football for the Quakers.
As part of their sponsorship, this year’s tournament will be named the “Keystone Classic presented by Canna Milne Financial.” Also, fans, coaches and athletes will have the opportunity to meet Penn Wrestling legend and Olympic Gold Medalist, Brandon Slay, for photo opportunities and autographs during the event.
“Penn Athletics introduced me to some of the finest people I know,” said Brett Canna. “I maintain very close friendships with athletes and coaches that I met through the Penn Wrestling program and these individuals shaped my time at the University and helped me develop in my career and life.”
Will Milne shared similar sentiment about his time at Penn and why he felt it was important to give back. “The University, the Football program and Penn Athletics as a whole have been incredibly good to me and I feel blessed to be affiliated with such a fine institution and historic athletic program. I feel it is my obligation to say thank you and give back however best I can.”
“We are excited to have the support of a presenting sponsor with deeps ties to Penn Wrestling and the University,” said Alex Tirapelle, the Roger Reina Head Coach of Wrestling at Penn. “We return four NCAA qualifiers and an NCAA All-American from last year, so we are looking forward to another great season at The Palestra. It’s a real boost for our team to see that companies like Canna Milne Financial recognize what we’re trying to accomplish as a program and want to support our efforts.”
This year’s Keystone Classic will take place on November 20 and will be highlighted by the defending NCAA champions, the Penn State Nittany Lions. They will be joined by 11 other teams, including the tournament hosts, the Penn Quakers.
