Capuano, Fuccello Earn Regional Honors

NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region Teams

PHILADELPHIA- The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) has announced its regional teams for the 2007 season in women's soccer, and Penn's Natalie Capuano and Jessica Fuccello were second-team honorees in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Both Capuano and Fuccello were unanimous first-team All-Ivy selections earlier this year, as they led the Quakers to a 13-4-0 mark, the program's first outright Ivy League championship, and an NCAA postseason berth.

Capuano -- who was an NSCAA third-team regional honoree last year -- anchored a midfield and defense that led the Quakers to the Ivy title. A member of the U.S. Under-21 National Team pool, she had three goals on the season, and helped a Penn defense that allowed just 15 goals in 18 matches with seven shutouts.

Fuccello, meanwhile, led the Ivy League in overall goals (11) and points (26), and both of those totals tied her for fifth on Penn’s single-season list. She scored her 11 goals in 10 different matches, and had the first Penn goal in four separate Ivy games. Through two seasons, Fuccello has 20 career goals which places her fifth on Penn’s all-time list.
