NCAA Championships Results
DES MOINES, Iowa - The Penn women's track team saw one athlete advance Wednesday at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, but another senior saw her career come to a close at Drake University.
Senior Jesse Carlin advanced to the semifinals of the 800 after placing third in her first-round heat. Carlin clocked 2:07.42 which was the 11th-best time overall. A total of 16 women advanced to Thursday's semifinal heats, which will take place beginning at 6:15 p.m. Carlin is striving to earn her second All-America certificate in the distance; she earned her first at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March.
Another senior, Stacy Kim, was unable to advance to the final in the 5,000. Running in the first of two heats, she finished ninth with a time of 17:46.56 and needed a slower second heat in order to move on. That was not the case however -- instead, the second heat ran far faster than the first, which knocked Kim out of the running.
