Carlin, Kim and 4x800 Advance to ECAC Finals


PRINCETON, N.J.--The women's track and field team will have entries inthe 800 meter dash (Jesse Carlin), 1500 meter run (Claire Kim) and the 4x800 meter relay, Sunday at the ECAC Championships in Princeton, N.J.

Carlin clocked the second-fastest timein the 800m trials coming in at 2:07.40. The time was anNCAA qualifying time and also earned her a spot in Sunday's final race scheduled for 1:35 p.m. Christina Morrison also ran the 800m, but finished with a time of 2:13.33 in 16th and did not qualify for the finals.

Junior Claire Kim finished second in her heat of the 1500m with a time of 4:28.32. Though it was not one of the top-10 times of the day, Kim moved on to the finals with the second-place heat finish. Penn also ran Jamie Liberti (4:33.53, 21st) and Stacy Kim (4:35.55, 23rd) in the race. The final is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. Sunday.

Penn combined Kinjal Parikh, Anna Aagenes, Kimberly Shooshan and Charlotte Lawson in the 4x800 relay. They produced a time of 8:59.51--the third best time of the day. The final is scheduled for 2:50 p.m. Sunday.

The Qauakers had competitors in four other events that missedthe cut off for Sunday's final.

Pari Hashemifinished 20th inthe 400m hurdles with a timeof 1:04.16.

The 4x100 team (Hannah Cope, Kelly Allred, Jessica Ehrlich, Lauren Blake) finished 23rd at 47.96

The 4x400 team was heart-breakingly close with a ninth-place finish of 3:47.37 while only the top eight advance and the eighth-place team clocked a time of 3:47.30.

In the field events, Whitney Tagliavini marked 5.72m in the long jump for 11th place.
