Carlin Wins 800 at NCAA East Regional

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Senior Jesse Carlin continued her winning ways during this championship season in the 800, taking first place at the NCAA East Regional Saturday afternoon at Florida State.

After winning her heat Friday in 2:06.05, Carlinclocked 2:05.89 Saturday afternoon to get the victory -- adding to victories she got already this spring in the distance at the ECAC and Heptagonal Championships. With that, she punched her ticket to the NCAA Championships, which will take place June 11-14 at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

Carlin was an All-America in the indoor 800 earlier this year and was named to the All-East region team.

In other Penn action from the weekend, senior Shaunee Morgan ran in the 400 Friday and was fifth in her heat with a time of 55.33 seconds. She was unable to advance to Saturday's final.

Also on Friday, senior Stacy Kim finished 15th overall in the 5,000 with a time of 16:58.53, while Kinjal Parikh was 30th in 17:48.97.
