SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Former Penn men's soccer goalkeeper DannyCepero made seven saves to help the New York Red Bulls punch their ticket to the MLS Cup Championship. Cepero secured his second consecutive shutout to help his team defeat Real Salt Lake in the Western Conference final and advance to face the Columbus Crew for the league title on Nov. 23 in Carson City, Calif.
The Red Bulls faced the Crew three times this season, going 2-1 in those meetings and outscoring Columbus 6-4. Cepero got his first minutes in goal against the Crew on Oct. 18. He made MLS history in that game by scoring a goal, something no other MLS keeper has done. The Red Bulls won that game 3-1.
