PHILADELPHIA Junior Julia Cheneywas named Ivy League Player of the Week for her performance last week. Cheney becomes the second Quaker this season to earn the award, joining sophomore Christina Khosravi (3/14).
Cheney hit .583 in four games last week with two doubles and a home run. She hit for a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .615 on base percentage.
In Penn’s 6-3 nine inning win over Lehigh (3/28), Cheney went 3-for-4 with two runs batted in and two doubles, including an RBI double in the Quakers three-run ninth. In game two, the junior went 2-for-3 knocking in the games first run for Penn. In the second game against Princeton (4/1) on Saturday, Cheney went 2-for-3 with a solo homer in the fifth that got the Quakers on the board.
Cheney and the Quakers travel to city-rival Temple for a single game on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
