PHILADELPHIA - For the second time this season, freshman softball player Brooke Coloma has earned Ivy League weekly honors. The League office named Coloma the Co-Player and Rookie of the Week, sharing the honor with Cornell's Kristen Towne, for the season's eighth week of play.
Coloma (Martinez, Calif.) batted .400 (8-for-20) with three home runs, seven RBI and an .850 slugging percentage, as the Quakers went 3-1 against Ivy rival Princeton (3-3 for the week). She homered twice in Penn's 11-7 win over the Tigers, and once in Penn's 5-1 victory, giving the Quakers the tying and go-ahead runs. Coloma also had four straight multi-hit games.
Penn closes out its non-conference schedule Wednesday when it hosts Delaware for a single game, starting at 3 p.m. on Warren Field.
