PHILADELPHIA - Connie Hsu is the current focus for the USTA's College Spotlight, which showcases Division I tennis players and coaches on both the men's and women's side in an exclusive interview. In the interview with the USTA, Hsu talks about her passion for tennis, some of her memorable tennis moments, and how she knew Penn was the right school for her.
Hsu and the rest of the women's tennis team are coming off of a weekend in which the team captured its first two Ivy League team victories to finish off the 2011 regular season. Individually, Hsu played number one throughout the spring for Penn and went 20-0 during that time, including a perfect 7-0 in the Ivy League. In doubles, Hsu teamed up with senior captain Alexa Ely for a 15-1 mark this spring at number one doubles. For the entire season, Hsu compiled a record of 43-2 record in singles play, while also owning a 30-3 record in doubles competition. All but one of those matches came with Ely as her doubles partner.
The Quaker's freshman is currently ranked 26th in the country in the latest ITA Rankings, but has been ranked as high as 12th during the spring. After wrapping up the team portion of the season, Hsu must now await the NCAA Individual Championship draw to be released to determine her postseason outcome.
