Corcoran Earns Weekly Honors From Ivy League, ECAC

PHILADELPHIA - The Ivy League and ECAC have announced its weekly honors in field hockey, and University of Pennsylvania junior forward Emily Corcoran was named the Ivy League Player of the Week and ECAC Offensive Player of the Week.

Corcoran's honors come on the heels of her performances against non-conference foes Rider and UMass Lowell. Against the Broncs, Corcoran scored twice and added an assist, with her second goal coming in overtime to give Penn a 4-3 win. On Sunday, she figured inall threeofthe Quakers'first-half goals during their 5-0 win over the River Hawks.

Corcoran -- who leads Penn in points (29) and assists (7) and is second in goals (11) -- is the third different Penn player to earn Ivy League Player of the Week honor this year. (Freshman Jasmine Cole and junior Carly Sokach are the others.) The last time Penn had three different players earn the honor was 1988 (Nicky Hitchens, Sue Donohue, Ellen Vagelos).

Penn is 9-2, the best start since that 1988 NCAA semifinal team was 9-1-1 after 11 games. The Quakers are at Columbia Friday night at 6 p.m., hoping to remain unbeaten in Ivy League play, before they host Appalachian State Sunday at noon on Ellen Vagelos Field.
