PHILADELPHIA – Two University of Pennsylvania women’s lacrosse players were honored by Inside Lacrosse as part of its yearly awards recognition with Nina Corcoran (All-ILWomen) and Katy Junior (All-Rookie) picking up awards.
The Quakers were the only Ivy League program to have a player on both teams, led by 2016 IWLCA second-team All-American Nina Corcoran who had a record-setting year to cap her illustrious Penn career.
In 2016, Nina Corcroan set new Penn and Ivy League records for assists in both a single season (58) and a career (127) while leading her team to the NCAA Quarterfinals. Corcoran was named Unanimous Ivy League Attacker of the Year and a first-team All-Ivy selection, leading the country in assists and assists-per-game along the way.
Katy Junior was the only freshman to start all 20 games for the Red and Blue in 2016, and finished third on the squad with 18 caused turnovers while adding 26 ground balls. She was at her best in the postseason, earning ILWomen.com National Rookie of the Week honors for her three caused turnovers and two groundballs in the Quarterfinals against Penn State.
