PHILADELPHIA – With two days left before wrestling commences at the 2009 EIWA Championships, business is picking up in wrestling rooms up and down the Atlantic seaboard as teams prepare for a shot at a conference title and a berth to the NCAA Championships.
One such room is that of the Penn Quakers. The team has been engaging in spirited workouts all week as the ten men who will step onto the mats work on final strategy plans as well as perfecting the technique they hope will lead to a spot on the podium.
Junior 125-pounder Rollie Peterkin took time out of his preparation to sit down with Penn Athletics for “Penn Wrestling All Access” this past week. In our conversation, Rollie talked about what it means to wrestle the conference tournament at home in The Palestra as well as the grind that goes with a two-day tournament and the team’s overall mindset heading into one of the most important weekend’s of the year.
