PHILADELPHIA - After his best outing of the young season, Jake Cousins was honored with the Philadelphia Big Five Pitcher of the Week Award. The big righty threw eight innings on Friday against Binghamton without allowing an earned run and surrendered just six hits, while striking out seven. He set down 11 in a row from the fourth to the seventh en route to his first win of the season.
Cousins' outing helped the Quakers snap a five-game losing streak and also led them to their first series-win of the season.
This is the second-career Big Five award for Cousins, who was honored with Pitcher of the Week last season for a complete-game one-hit, shutout performance against Columbia on April 26, 2015.
Penn sits at 4-8 on the year and will head to Lehigh on Wednesday for a mid-week contest with the Mountain Hawks at 3:30 p.m.
