Local squads will embark on the Alumni Cross Country Course for the annual meet with races set for 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., respectively.
The women’s squad enters Friday fresh off capturing the Big 5 Invitational last week with an impressive 17 team points and the top-4 individual finishes in the race.
Led by Ashley Montgomery (14:16.8), Clarissa Whiting (14:21.1), Cleo Whiting (14:21.9) and Erin Feeney (14:28.6) the Quakers took home their third-consecutive city title. Abby Hong also scored for the Quakers, finishing seventh with a time of 14:44.6. Marin Warner and Rachel Beston rounded out the Quakers top-7 in eighth and ninth place, respectively.
On the men’s side, the Quakers were equally dominate with senior Nick Tuck (18:57.0) leading the way averaging 5:05 mile pace. Fellow senior and team captain Brendan Shearn crossed the finish just under eight seconds later while sophomore Patrick Hally clocked third for the 1-2-3 finish. Rounding out the Penn top-5 were Kevin Monogue in fifth and Chris Luciano in eighth, while Aaron Groff and Tom Connelly finalized the Quaker top-7.
In all, the Red and Blue pushed six harriers into the top-10 while the five scoring members averaged 19:07 over the 6k course.
The Quaker men took home the Main Line Invite title last season in the first year for team scoring in the event, while the women placed second at the meet. The Red and Blue recorded strong showings on both sides, with the women putting together a 3-4-8-9-12 finish from their top-five runners, while the men finished 2-4-6-7-8.
