PHILADLEPHIA – The Penn men’s cross country team has announced its schedule for the 2009 season as the Red and Blue look to make a splash this upcoming season.
The Quakers are led by juniors Luke Grau and Chris Baird, who teamed up to finish first in all but one of Penn’s cross country races a year ago. Senior Kevin Sullivan and sophomore Austin Santillo, look to add depth to the squad, after a successful outdoor season last spring. The team also plans to get points from a group of returning underclassmen; however, they will be pushed by a strong incoming freshmen class
The Red and Blue open up their season on September 12, when they travel to Princeton to take part in the Old Nassau Run, and then travel to New York City the following weekend for the Iona Meet of Champions, a meet in which they finished eighth out of 24 teams last year.
Following a week off, the Quakers travel to Lehigh on October 2, where they will take part in the Paul Short Invitational, and then venture up to State College for the Penn State Invitational on Friday, October 15.
On October 30, Penn travels back to New York City for the Heptagonal Championships looking to improve on last year’s eighth place finish.
The Red and Blue conclude their season with the NCAA District Meet at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on November 14; the NCAA Championships take place November 23, at Indiana State University.
