PHILADELPHIA - Track & field season just came to a close at the University of Pennsylvania, but that just means cross country season is right around the corner. Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Steve Dolan officially announced the 2015 cross country season on Monday.
Once again, the Quakers begin the season with the Big 5 Invitational on their home course at Belmont Plateau on Sept. 11. Last season, both the men and women took first place at the season-opening meet.
A week later, the Quakers take the short trip to Haverford, Pa., to compete in the Mainline Invitational before splitting up for the Notre Dame Invitational and Paul Short Invitational on Oct. 2. The Quakers wrap up the regular season on Oct. 17 with the Princeton Invitational.
The Heptagonal Championships return to Van Corlandt Park in New York City this year. The Quakers will race for the league title on Oct. 30. Two weeks later, Penn competes in the NCAA Regional Championships with the hopes of returning a few Quakers to the NCAA Championships on Nov. 21 in Louisville, Ky.
