PHILADELPHIA - The men's and women's cross country teams were honored this week by the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association as 2011 Division I All-Academic teams. A total of 148 men's teams and 205 women's teams across the country met the minimum requirements.
The men's team posted a cumulative GPA of 3.36. Chattanooga reported the highest GPA (3.81) while the national champion Wisconsin Badgers (3.08) were named as the Men's Scholar Team of the Year.
On the women's side, the team recorded a team GPA of 3.18. Alabama recorded the highest cumulative GPA (3.83), while NCAA champion Georgetown (3.28) was honored as the Women's Scholar Team of the Year.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, each individual team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their NCAA regional.
