PHILADELPHIA – After its opening weekend in Florida at Stetson the University of Pennsylvania baseball team earned its first Big 5 weekly honor for the 2015 season.
Senior right-handed pitcher Connor Cuff earned Big 5 Pitcher of the Week for his performance against Stetson in game two this past weekend. Cuff threw 5.0 innings, but earned a no decision when the game was halted due to rain on Saturday, with the Quakers leading 4-1. In the outing, Cuff scattered six hits, while allowing just one run, and striking out three.
Penn (1-2) would go on to win the resumed game Sunday, 7-4, on the strength of a two-out, two run single by junior Matt Greskoff. Sophomore left-hander Mike Reitcheck picked up the victory.
Last season, Cuff was named to the Philadelphia All-Big 5 Team, and earned two weekly honors for his performance on the mound.
The Quakers return to action this weekend, beginning their spring break trip with a three-game series at Old Dominion, March 6-8.
